A Brief Shelf Life Update

I finished the first draft of part 2 last night, and plan to spend the weekend with some editing. This was a tough one to write. During my break, just because I wasn’t writing, didn’t mean I wasn’t thinking about it. I spent the time between finishing part 1 and writing part 2 thinking, often in great detail, about various scenes I wanted to include. So when I sat down to start part 2, I started with those scenes. Problem is, they didn’t all flow from one to another, so it’s taken quite a bit of work to turn it into something that feels like an organic story. And I have no doubt, it’s going to take quite a bit of editing to get it right. So I’ll edit this weekend and Monday, send it off to my alpha reader to see how I did.

Then, it’s on to part 3. For part 3, I know where it’s going to start, and I know how it’s going to end. But Jacob, Katie, Jason, Derrick and Angus (that’s a lot of folks you haven’t met yet) haven’t told me what happens along the way.

Happy Friday, everyone, and have a great weekend!
